Apple's smallest new iPhone will be called iPhone 12 mini, leaker claims
September 21, 2020 at 5:41 am 0
With Apple's iPhone event (probably) happening next month, we have a pretty good idea about the phones the company's about to launch. Most of the reports agree that we'll see four new iPhones, the most Apple has ever launched at one time.  But now, often-accurate leaker L0vetodream (via 9to5Mac) has some interesting information on what the new iPhones will be called.  12mini1212 Pro12 Pro Max — 有没有搞措 (@L0vetodream) September 21, 2020 In a tweet, he said the smallest and cheapest new iPhone, the 5.4-inch variant, will be called iPhone 12 mini (it's unclear whether the lack of space between "12" and "mini" is deliberate, but it wouldn't be typical for Apple's product naming).  Read more...More about Apple, Iphone, Iphone 12 Mini, Tech, and Smartphones

Jimmy Fallon and Jessica Alba hilariously fail what may be the final TikTok dance challenge
September 20, 2020 at 5:32 am 0
What will Jimmy Fallon do for TV content in a post-TikTok world? With the approaching ban of TikTok and WeChat from U.S. app stores, Fallon revived his "Watch it once" TikTok challenge for a (possibly final!) Friday night showdown with Jessica Alba. He technically did worse, but Alba called it correctly at the end of the video (before handing the win to Jimmy anyway): "I think we both lost." It's true. The only winners here are the TikTok dancers, whose moves Fallon and Alba both struggled to replicate after an initial watch. Read more... PlayStation 5 pre-orders were a disaster. Sony is sorry and promising more.
September 20, 2020 at 5:32 am 0
As anyone who tried to pre-order a PlayStation 5 surely knows by now: It was a bit of a mess. Sony revealed on Wednesday that its upcoming next-generation gaming console will hit stores on Nov. 12. It was a fine presentation, filled with looks at new games and confirmation of the PS5's pricing – $499 for the standard version and $399 for one without a disc drive.  Still, a few notable things were missing. Some of the key games lacked release dates that were later confirmed after the presentation. And more importantly, there was no discussion at all about pre-orders. Nonetheless, some retailers started up their own pre-orders almost immediately. And of course, chaos ensued. Read more...More about Sony, Pre Order, Playstation 5, Entertainment, and Gaming

Ruth Bader Ginsburg's best pop culture moments
September 19, 2020 at 5:22 am 0
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday at age 87.  The absolutely awful news will of course usher in lots of worthy look backs at her illustrious career. However, in addition to being a beloved Supreme Court Justice known for her fiery dissents, she was also a pop culture icon lovingly referred to as the Notorious RBG — a nickname she seemed to delight in, noting in 2019 it was “beyond her wildest imagination.” There were RBG earrings, baby costumes, Tumblrs, and books — and with that, plenty of onscreen celebrations. If you’re upset about her death, the first thing you should do is email your senators about not holding hearings for her replacement until after the election. (Hear that?)  Read more...More about Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Entertainment, and Movies Tv Shows

The best messaging apps not owned by Facebook
September 19, 2020 at 5:22 am 0
With purchase after purchase, milestone surpassed after milestone surpassed, Facebook continues its slow suffocation of the internet. You, a thinking person who values your privacy and sees the Mark Zuckerberg-helmed behemoth as complicit in an array of real-world suffering, want out.  But with Facebook operating the world's largest messaging apps — the company owns both Instagram and WhatsApp in addition to the familiar, now ominous shade of blue that accompanies Messenger — many messaging options of the digital age correctly feel tainted. Thankfully, there are plenty of non-Facebook-owned ways to communicate with friends and family that are easy, secure, private, and reliable.
