All of that is in addition to Square Enix's marquee reveal, our first-ever look at a standalone Guardians of the Galaxy game that, in a surprise twist, will be coming before the end of 2021. Xbox and Bethesda dropped a *ton* of sweet game trailers at their E3 kickoff
June 14, 2021 at 1:39 am 0
Halo? Jack Sparrow in Sea of Thieves? A proper first look at Bethesda's long-awaited Starfield? A new batch of Game Pass games for subscribers? All here, and then some. Microsoft and Bethesda Softworks kicked off their E3 2021 on Sunday afternoon with an extended onslaught of reveals and new trailer drops from the two storied publishers. It was notably the first E3 press conference for either of them since Microsoft's blockbuster Bethesda acquisition in 2020. That's especially notable because both brands have, in recent years especially, tended to dominate many of the headlines coming out of E3 with their surprises and big-name exclusives. Now, with everything from Elder Scrolls to Halo to Doom to Minecraft all under the same corporate stewardship, two blockbuster press conferences have merged into one. If you've never seen an E3 showcase from Devolver Digital, it's time to treat yourself
June 13, 2021 at 1:30 am 0
For most publishers and creators of video games, E3 is a time for business. Yeah, it's fun to meet with the community and get those exciting reveals out. But ultimately, there's a job to be done. That's just as true for Devolver Digital as it is for all the rest, but gaming's most punk indie publisher hides it so well. Where you'd normally expect a major publisher like E3 to trot out the news in the most widely accessible way possible, Devolver gets weird. That was as true in 2021 as it's always been. If you really want to get all the in-jokes here — it's a legit cinematic universe at this point — then you'll want to go back and catch up with Devolver's showcases from 2017, 2018, 2019, and yes, even 2020. But the deranged 2021 showcase is a totally enjoyable watch on its own, too.  Read more...More about Gaming,

How to watch movies with your friends online
June 12, 2021 at 1:20 am 0
You don't need to be living amid a global pandemic or ~unprecidented times~ to see the appeal of a virtual watch party. It's all the fun of a movie night with friends, except you don't have to leave the comfort of your own couch or bed, and all the snacks are yours for the monching. You're basically getting the best of both worlds, to quote the great philosopher Hannah Montana. Watching a movie together while apart was once a precarious dance of devices that involved linking up over a group text or Skype call while you all tried to press "Play" on "3, 2, 1" (and god forbid anyone needs a bathroom break). Not so much anymore, though. Read more...More about Netflix, Streaming, Streaming Services, Mashable Shopping, and Streaming Guides

'In the Heights' got you wanting to watch more musicals? Here's where a bunch are streaming.
June 10, 2021 at 1:00 am 0
How many of us are making Lin-Manuel Miranda's In the Heights a first trip back to the movies in more than a year? The long-awaited theatrical release of the Miranda-written, pre-Hamilton hit is finally here after a pandemic-wrought delay, and fans of musicals couldn't be happier. But for many, it's not going to be enough. Broadway is still shut down and musical theater in general still needs time to work its way back. What's a fan to do? Stream it. The entertainment consumer of 2021 is inundated with choice when it comes to streaming services, and every option out there has something to offer. If you absolutely must have something close to the original article, a Broadway HD subscription might be the ticket you're looking for. But make sure you check your existing subscriptions first; you might be surprised by what you find! Read more...More about Musicals, In The Heights, Entertainment, Streaming

First 'Gossip Girl' reboot trailer has intrigue, Instagram, and the return of a familiar voice
June 10, 2021 at 1:00 am 0
"Did you miss me? I know I've missed you." Gossip Girl is back in the first full trailer for HBO Max's revival of the glitzy 00s teen soap, complete with the perfect Frank Ocean needle drop. Kristen Bell, the original's impeccably smarmy voice of Gossip Girl herself (or *sigh* himself), returns to remind you in those familiar insinuating tones that while the cast might be new (and significantly less white than the old gang), the super-rich-kid problems and power struggles of Upper East Side teens promise to be as dramatic and delectable as ever. And this time, they're playing out — where else? — on Instagram. Read more...More about Gossip Girl, Hbo Max, Entertainment, and Movies Tv Shows
